I investigate the relevant code, content, integrations, and environment. A useful fix begins with the cause and the consequences of a change.
Make it clear.
I explain options and tradeoffs in plain language, especially when an unknown or a dependency changes the plan.
Follow through.
Implementation includes checking affected behavior and considering how the result will be maintained after the immediate task is done.
